Rookies Tonight

Today is our first restaurant fundraiser!  If you don't have any dinner plans, head over to Rookies for some good food.  If you bring the flyer handed out earlier in the week Rookies will donate 20% of the sales to Timber Trails.  Also, don't forget to put my name on the flyer.  The class with the most participation may win a prize!

Field Trip Money

Just a reminder that our field trip money is due by tomorrow, Thursday, September 26th.  If you have not done so, please return the permission slip along with $10 for your child.  If you are volunteering on the trip, your cost is $2. If you are unsure if you have paid, please email me and I will let you know.  :)

Volunteers for the field trip

Hi everyone!  We have our 3 volunteers for the field trip.  Thank you to everyone who offered to help out. We are so lucky to have such an amazing group of parents who are willing to take time out of their day to offer to join us. We have a few more field trips in mind and I will let you know if we are going to need any more help.  Again, thank you!!!

Challenge

While working on our math assignment today, I came to realize that many of my friends do not know how to spell their last names, their address or their phone number.  This got me thinking.  This is a very important skill for the kids to know in case of an emergency. So, I am making a challenge. I challenge my students to learn their full name, address and phone number. If they can prove to me that they know this information (by being able to write it all out) I will give them a prize (I'm going to Target to find prizes tonight) and they will get their name on the challenge poster. Now, since I want the students to really know this information and not just memorize it for a day, I am starting the challenge on Tuesday of next week. If a student feels he or she is ready to prove their knowledge they will get a form to fill out. If they fill it out correctly, they win!  If they do not fill it out correctly, the can go home and practice some more and try again on Friday. This will continue for a couple of weeks.

Picture Day

Don't forget Picture Day will be Monday, September 23rd.  We will get our pictures taken in the morning (around 10 am) so that everyone looks wonderful and doesn't look disheveled from running around at recess. :) Don't forget to send in your order forms!!!

Field Trip

I sent home a permission slip for our field trip to Tom's Pumpkin Farm coming up on October 4th.  The cost of the trip is $10 per student.  Please fill out the slip and return it to school as soon as possible so we make finalize the reservations. Thank you for your help and we are really looking forward to the opportunity to head out to the farm.

Also, I have had many people volunteer to join us on our trip.  If you have emailed me or sent me a note about joining us I have sent home a fingerprint sheet. Please let me know after you have been fingerprinted. Unfortunately, I cannot have everyone join us.  I am only allowed to have 2 to 3 parents come along to help. The first 3 parents to get fingerprinted will be chosen to join our trip. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered!  I really appreciate all your help and support.

Welcome to our Blog

Welcome to our classroom blog.  I will be posting updates about our classroom on here as well as give you information about upcoming events and activities.  Please check the blog frequently to see if anything has been added.

I am sending home a permission slip on Friday about our Blog and asking for permission to post pictures of your child on the blog.  I will not post pictures often as we are so busy I don't usually have a second to snap a picture, but occasionally I do like to share pictures of fun projects we are working on.  Please look through the permission slip and return it to school as soon as possible.

You may also follow our blog and post comments or questions about things we are doing.  Please do not be shy to comment or ask questions.  This is a quick way for me to clarify any issues that may arise with our work/homework.
